BY TERRY FREEDMAN, EDUCATIONAL ICT CONSULTANT

Sometimes you need to convince colleagues to think about using educational technology in their lessons, or to identify where in their scheme of work they could incorporate it.
This list is a starting point: you may find one or two points that would "resonate" with your co-worker, and grab his or her attention.

    Movie Review : 127 Hours

The Tale of a Shocking Fall and a Gritty Resolve

    Movie Review : Vertical Limit

    Vertical Limit (2000)

    By ELVIS MITCHELL
    Published: December 8, 2000
The director Martin Campbell knows what his competition is for ''Vertical Limit,'' a shallow yet empty action extravaganza set on the notorious Himalayan peak K2. It's the ''Cliffhanger'' trailer, which neatly jettisoned the (heh, heh) plot and shoehorned in every heart-stopping leap and explosion that took place in the blissful, snowcapped setting, where even sub-arctic temperatures couldn't keep Sylvester Stallone from wearing T-

    Snorkeling Tips For Beginners

What is your first time snorkeling experience going to be like? A once in a lifetime experience that you can't wait to repeat? Or a miserable, boring or even dangerous experience?
Unfortunately, poor first time experiences are pretty common.
But the truth is that while snorkeling is a very enjoyable and easy sport, without some basic skills, good equipment, and knowledge about the dangers and conditions of the ocean, a first time snorkeling experience can be a bit miserable, scary and potentially dangerous.

    What is Backpacking?

Backpacking -- tramping, trekking or backcountry camping -- is essentially the combination of hiking and camping in the backcountry. For some adventurer, backpacking is the act of sleeping in the wild, away from the trappings of civilization or the art of being self-contained, carrying everything you need to survive, whilst walking/cycling from one location to another on a multi-day journey through a natural landscape. Climbing FAQs

Q: What if I get scared when I'm on the rope?
A: Just stop, breathe, relax and enjoy the scenery around you. Take your time and you'll feel better. The beauty of a top rope is that you can always ask for tension and hang on the rope to rest or gain confidence in the safety system.

    Q: Can I use a handhold for a foothold?
A: You frequently can. As long as you can reach it, use it! But when it comes to

    Basic Climbing Gear / Equipment

Here's an overview of indispensable climbing gear. If you start out at a gym or climb with a guide, all the necessary equipment is usually provided. But eventually you'll want to get your own.
Tip: Always inspect your gear before climbing—whether you own it or rent it. Frequent use inevitably results in some wear and tear. The advantage of buying your own gear is that you know its history.
    Climbing Harness
Unless you are bouldering, you need a climbing harness. A harness consists of 2 basic parts:
    • Waistbelt: This sits over the hips and must fit snugly.
    • Leg loops: One loop goes around each leg. Many harnesses conveniently offer adjustable or removable leg loops.

Your harness allows you to tie into the rope safely and efficiently. All harnesses

    Types of Rock Climbing

The rock-climbing world consists of a number of small niches. Consider which aspect of the sport interests you the most.

    Indoor Sport Climbing

    Climbing Route Ratings

Routes are rated by the hardest move on the route. In the U.S., the Yosemite Decimal Rating System is most commonly used to classify climbing difficulty.
    Climbing Route Classifications

    Getting Started Rock Climbing

For physical fitness, fun and, yes, adrenaline, nothing beats rock climbing. Rock climbing is an activity in which participants climb up, down or across natural rock formations or artificial rock walls. The goal is to reach the summit of a formation or the endpoint of a usually pre-defined route without falling. Rock climbing is a physically and mentally demanding sport, one that often tests a climber's strength, endurance, agility and balance along with mental control.
